Pieces of Happiness
“Pieces of Happiness” is a 3D zoetrope fabricated by a 3D printer. The models of His Majesty the late King were built using Autodesk Maya, then each model was animated to create a one second loop animation, which actually comprised 18 different actions of the model. Then they were separated into 18 3D models, printed on a Zortrax M300 3D printer, and assembled into a sculpture. For performance, the sculpture was set in motion by an 18 revolutions per second motor, at the same time, a calibrated LED strobe light flashed 18 times per second to complete the animated illusion.
