Into the wind

Inspired by the surroundings and everyday observations, “Into the Wind” began as an experiment to replicate a natural process within a natural space, using technological techniques and human perception.
The project focuses on wind—a simple, invisible force flowing between us. Although we cannot see it, we can feel its presence, its movement, and its ability to bring life to grass and pollen. This installation invites viewers to recreate wind by activating specialized mechanisms using their breath.
At its core, Into the Wind interprets the process of blowing bubbles. The shapes and forms of the bubbles vary depending on how the viewer blows, allowing them to observe the entire process through the work’s transparent structure. By mimicking nature, Into the Wind transforms breath into wind via computer programming, which then drives the mechanisms. Each interaction produces a unique result, ensuring no two experiences are the same.
The project also encourages viewers to reflect on their role in the process: Are they mere observers, or are they part of the mechanism?

How it works
Basically, it’s a giant acrylic box where air is pushed in from below and released through the front. This process passes through bubble-solution-soaked strings that open and close in response to the audience's interaction.
